PROSBUD began operations in 1992 with the production of doors, and in 2011 expanded its production range to include wooden furniture and various wooden garden products. One of the latest investments at the plant is the EasyScan Smart C 200: a Weinig scanner used for four-sided defect detection in pine sawn timber.

Since 2011, the family-owned company PROSBUD has been adapting its offer to the dynamically changing needs of customers and market conditions. The beginnings of the business were modest and not without difficulties, and its development was based on the systematic expansion of the plant and the resulting increase in sales.

PROSBUD carries out virtually all stages of wood processing. It has its own sawmill, drying chambers, carpentry workshop and paint shop. It is therefore an example of a company that is involved in "deep" wood processing, where it ultimately obtains highly processed products. Production waste is used to produce pellets and, to some extent, to heat the production plant.

With customer comfort and satisfaction in mind, PROSBUD uses only selected pine wood raw material. This is where the aspect of material optimisation comes in, where technology helps to achieve quality and economic requirements in the production context.

Defect optimisation

In industrial wood production, it is important to eliminate defects in wood. That is why the company uses technology that enables it to achieve this goal efficiently, through cooperation with Weinig.

Until now, the plant has been using the Opticut 200 optimiser, which, as the company's needs have grown, has proven to be insufficiently efficient. After internal calculations, it became clear that investing in a new solution was a necessity.

EasyScan Smart C 200

WEINIG supplied PROSBUD with an innovative scanner for four-sided defect detection in sawn timber called EasyScan Smart C 200, designed for use in high-performance optimisation lines for cross-cutting sawn timber. This advanced scanner can handle lines equipped with two high-performance saws, making it a versatile tool for wood product manufacturers.

Investing in WEINIG's EasyScan Smart C 200 scanning technology increases production efficiency and profitability while improving wood yield by 5-8%, as stated in PROSBUD.

This AI-based scanner ensures system stability and high repeatability in the detection of wood defects. Thanks to the precise data obtained during material scanning and image processing, each element is optimised according to the customer's individual requirements in terms of product value, wood utilisation efficiency or target quantity.

The owners of PROSBUD emphasise the importance of accurate detection of blue stain and resin pockets, which is crucial for the quality of their products. The production line starts with a Hydromat 3000 planer, offering a high feed speed of up to 60 m/min during the initial planing stage. Continuous feeding of material to the planer is ensured by an efficient feeder at the inlet.

A key element of the line is the EasyScan Smart C 200 scanner, which optimises the process by accurately detecting wood defects. Behind the scanner is the OptiCut 450 Quantum optimising cross-cut saw, which guarantees efficient cutting of elements and separation of waste.

Eight ejectors enable meticulous sorting of elements, which is crucial for obtaining high-quality products.

After the cutting process, the user has access to precise production data, such as wood quality, yield and the number of elements for individual products. This allows for full control over the quality of the purchased wood and effective production planning. Mr Krzysztof's sons quickly became familiar with the new technology using the scanner optimisation programme, maximising its potential in everyday production.
